“The Rights of Man” Hall has a two-ton chandelier and a massive round table with 60 seats. The space is set up for use by the Council of the European Union for which Romania has the Presidency for the first six months of 2019 CE. The booths in the rear on the right are for translators. The Palace of the Parliament is not only where the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies meet, but also houses three museums and an international conference center. The heaviest building in the world, it was ordered by Romania’s communist dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. Construction began in 1984 CE but was not completed until 1997 CE. (Ceaușescu was executed in 1989 CE as a result of the Romanian Revolution.) The multiple underground levels include a nuclear bunker.
